Getting In shape made easy
(Post for Richard) Professor Steve Bloom, from imperial college London led an experiment that could change dieting forever. The hormone oxyntomodulin was discovered to have more than one effect on losing weight. "This hormone has a double effect, increasing energy expenditure as well as reducing food intake” –professor Steve Bloom. In the experiment several college students were injected with the hormone and found that after the first meal, the volunteers ate on average 17.4 percent less, while energy expended increased by 26.2 percent. This new discovery fixes the natural problem that occurs when the body loses energy due to lack of nutrients.

Finding this hormone is great because it offers a great alternative the other pills out there. It is also great because it increasing the patients energy while other medicines may drain the person taking them.
ReplyDeleteThis drug can be very helpful in the search for a better weight-loss system. The article is also correct in saying that the true answer to obesity lies in exercise. If this drug is a step in helping people want to exercise then it will definitely go far in helping the obesity epidemic, but I don't feel like it should be used as the "easy way out." Just because it makes losing weight easier doesn't mean it will actually make people act on and take advantage of it. Over all a great discovery.

I think things like that is what leads people to become anorexic. For those women that have a little fat, and weight that they are trying to knock off, this wouldn't be good. But i think it was directed to the obese people. Less food intake, and increasing energy expenditure can help the really fat people loose weight easier. i think this will work well, i just think it would be dangerous for a woman trying to loose weight that isn't obese at all, it can cause anorexia.
