CALORIES ARE BUSTED.

Schools across the country are taking measures to create a healthier cafeteria. For starters, no more cake, soft drinks, or cookies. To promote this, deep fryers have been banned in California and Alabama has gotten rid of sweet tea.  The school’s goals are to create a healthier lifestyle for kids because of the number of overweight children in our country. However, some parents don’t agree with this because things such as cupcakes for birthdays have been banned. There are mixed feelings to whether these guidelines for food should be taken by schools across America.

  1. This is a great topic and one that should be discussed sooner rather than later. It is very true America has tons of overweight children, which is sad. America need to be raising strong and smart kids who are in good health. i like the idea of baning deep fryers and sweets, however birthdays should be an exception :)

  2. This article makes a very good point. There are a lot of overweight children in the world now because of what they eat at school and home. I disagree with the banning of sweet tea because I don’t think that would make you gain weight. I think that more schools could just try the idea of banning these things and see the difference in children’s weight.

  3. This article is important because it argues back and forth wether or not to ban certain items from Cafeterias. Most Cafeteria foods are unhealthy, but most Cafeterias goals are to become more healthy. I aslo disagree with getting rid of the sweet tea.

  4. I think this is a great article, and it should be discussed like Brittany said. I do agree that they should take out the soft-drinks in the cafeteria. For the simple fact that there not necessary during school, because of the caffeine in them. I think that they're different things, schools can do besides banning cupcakes for kids birthday's, since thats not an everyday thing. But overall, I do think its a great thing that school cafeterias are wanting to become more healthy.

  5. I also think this is a very good article because school cafeterias are a huge deal when it comes to health. Kids who attend school eat lunch in their school cafeteria and sometimes breakfast every single day. So taking away unhealthy foods can make a HUGE difference and improvement in students' health. It's almost like going on a diet. On the other hand, I do think that there should still be a dessert at least a few days of the week and allow treats for birthdays and other celebrations.

  6. This is like my article, just give the kids their cupcakes, the school isn't handing them out the student is. Lunch and snack at school isn't like someone's only meal of the day, it ll starts at home because when it becomes summer, they could eat anything they want.

  7. America is the most powerful country in the world and we could downfall this reputation if we do not have people around within a few decades. This topic needs to be spread around America and to be taken into affect.
